Three Will Get You Two

John Hickey reports from Peoria for The P.I. that Manager Hargrove sees the starting second base job as a competition between Jose Lopez, Willie Bloomquist and Fernando Vina. Personally, the only thing I care about is that the starting second baseman make a positive contribution to the offense this season. Whoever that turns out to be is okay with me - I'm only interested in results.

All I know, is if Lopez has the hot spring like last year and ends up in Tacoma, yeah I know he was injured, I will be very upset. If he is beaten out by Bloomquist or Vina then I will be disappointed in him.

So all the weight is on Jose's shoulders to earn this job and put this to rest.

Ya, the bottom line has to rule here. Lopez has had ample time to show that his "potential" is more than just hype and the kid has not shown it.
