6 Games Over .500

Say what you will - the Seattle Mariners continue to win. After an improbably sweep of the NL West leaders (with 2 come from behind wins thrown in for good measure), the Mariners head for Cleveland today to see if they can continue their winning ways.

The weekend series in San Diego provided another reminder concerning the special nature of one player - Ichiro! As Larry Stone wrote in The Times yesterday, the team faces some very difficult decisions with regard to Ichiro!. Whatever happens, he's an awesome player who will continue to perform at a high level for many years to come (I'm pretty sure).

The offense continues their onslaught. The pitching staff has been a little less fun to watch - with the exception of J.J. Putz. He is without question the most deadly closer in the game today. If you have to face him in the 9th, forget it. Game over.
