That Old Sinking Feeling

I can't even bring myself to write anything about yesterday's loss in Cleveland. I'm really tired of the M's doing this to me. They get me all wound up about being in contention in August - and then they go to Texas and start a 6 (or more) game losing streak. I'm tired of this shit. Seriously.

Update: Okay, so they are still within striking distance in the Wild Card race. Beating Rocket Man yesterday was a good thing - perhaps a momentum shift is in progress. I just wish the Mariners could play with more consistency. It's a recurring theme that I have blogged about for the last several years. Oh well, go M's!!

John Lackey Does Not Suck

Man, you've got to give credit where credit is due. John Lackey pitched one helluva ball game last night. He made the Mariner hitters look bad (no small feat considering the M's offense is one of the best in baseball).

The M's aren't going to make this easy on themselves. I'm getting to the point that I really dread roadtrips to Texas - seems like nothing good has come out of one of those trips for quite a few years now. In any event, taking 2 of 3 from Anaheim will get this team right back on track. Go M's!!

Update: Okay, it's not being overly dramatic to say that today's game is a must-win for the M's. Come on Felix!! Go M's!!

Turning Point

Yesterday's game was a turning point of sorts for me. I'm not going to attempt to analyze anything the Mariners do for the rest of the season. The fact is that they are winning. As a fan, this is an excellent turn of events. As a blogger, I still have plenty of doubts about them. But it's clear that something is happening - and perhaps the best thing to do is cheer them on and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Go M's!!

Hey Richie, I'll Tell You Why

Before I go on to tell Richie Sexson why the fans in Seattle have been on his ass, I would like to mention how nice it is (finally) to be a fan of this ballclub again. Go M's!!

So Richie, ya think the fans might be tired of seeing crappy baseball being played at Safeco Field? And do you also think that the fans might hold you guys to a higher standard in light of the fact that the team has not played well for the last three years? Just tossing that out there. By the way, nice dinger last night in the 9th. Keep doing stuff like that and I guarantee no more boos for you!!

Adam Jones And Management

After reading Jose Guillen's comments concerning the promotion of Adam Jones, I thought that I needed to put this in writing. While Guillen is certainly entitled to his opinion, it's the Manager (and GM to a lesser extent) who needs to remind him that he's a member of a team - a team that is trying to execute a strategy that will allow them to appear in the post season for the first time in forever (or at least it seems that long!!). Get over it and keep playing good ball Jose - everything else will take care of itself.

The Red Sox showed why they are so formidable over the weekend. The M's aren't really in bad shape in the division - better forget about the wildcard with the way the Yankees are playing right now. Concentrate on winning the division. But don't play any more shitty games like the one on Sunday please!!
