As the 2010 season continues to slide into oblivion (or as the great Larry Stone says, the Mariners continue to fade from playoff relevancy), I've been thinking about what the team could do in 2011 to add some offense. One name that jumps off the free agent list for 2011 is Paul Konerko. The line for 2010 so far is .294/.398/.588 - do the M's have anybody on the roster with an OPS north of .900? He can also play a little 1st base.
It's clear that not signing a guy who can hit (Branyan, Vlad, etc.) last year has really hurt the club. Not much to be done for this year - but the team can certainly start getting ready for next year. Signing Konerko would be a move in the right direction.
